Sustainability

My Commitment
I have always been committed to working as an inclusive and environmentally conscious Celebrant. I believe that ceremonies can also be mindful of their impact on the planet, and I aim to make sustainable choices accessible and achievable for all my clients.
I see sustainability as an ongoing journey. I continue to learn, stay up to date with new ideas, and adapt my ways of working to reflect best practice. Along with being a member of the Sustainable Wedding Alliance, I also bank with Monzo bank, which is not only branchless, they have commited to being net Zero by 2030.

I have implemented comprehensive recycling practices, across all office activities I have transitioned to environmentally conscious stationery, supplies, and ceremony materials. I have reduced reliance on paper by using digital documentation and communication wherever possible. Sustainable Partnerships & Community Engagement
I have collaborated with sustainability-focused industry networks, I have delivered sustainability resources and training within the celebrant community. Environmental Initiatives, I have introduced a tree-planting programme linked to each ceremony I deliver
Current Priorities
Measuring Impact. I am calculating and monitoring carbon emissions across all activities (Scopes 1, 2, and 3) I am establishing a clear baseline to inform future reduction targets
Planning & Strategy
I am developing a structured Carbon Reduction Action Plan am identifying key areas for emissions reduction and efficiency improvements. Operational Improvements, I am prioritising electric heating over fossil-fuel-based alternatives where possible. I am expanding my digital offerings to reduce travel and material use
Carbon Footprint
My current estimated annual emissions are approximately 1.1 tonnes CO₂e. This includes direct and indirect emissions (Scopes 1, 2, and 3). Calculations are based on a recognised carbon accounting tool by Netscape. This policy outlines how I bring sustainability into my day-to-day work, including
Energy Use
As a sole trader working from home, I have always taken a practical approach to reducing energy use . I use Octopus Energy, which supports renewable energy generation. When heating is needed, I heat only the room I’m working in rather than the whole house. I switch off electrical equipment when it’s not in us. i choose energy-efficient lighting and devices where possible.
Travel & Transport
I aim to keep travel as low-impact as possible: I use a mix of in-person meetings, video calls, phone calls, and messaging. I carefully plan journeys and group appointments together. Most of my work takes place within Bucks, Northants and neighbouring counties. Where possible,
I will take the train, I keep my mileage to a minimum wherever I can.
Paper & Resources
I always strive to minimise waste and unnecessary material use. I work digitally wherever possible, including sharing and editing ceremony scripts. I keep printing to a minimum. When printing is needed, I use recycled or responsibly sourced paper. reuse and recycle materials as part of my everyday work

Supporting Sustainable Ceremonies
I gently encourage clients to think about sustainability when planning their ceremony. This might include: Supporting Sustainable Ceremonies. I gently encourage clients to consider sustainability when planning their ceremony.
This might include: Choosing eco-friendly options such as cardboard or sustainable coffins, using biodegradable or homemade confetti (e.g., dried local flowers), asking florists to avoid floral foam and adopt more sustainable methods, hiring decorations or using pre-loved items, and choosing local and sustainable suppliers. Exploring options such as natural burial, where appropriate. These are always suggestions, not expectations; I support whatever choices feel right for each client.
Working with Others
Where possible, I try to collaborate with suppliers who share similar values, such as Local businesses, those offering reusable, recyclable, or biodegradable products, and suppliers who are transparent about their sustainability practices.
Through the charity Just on Tree, a tree is planted for every ceremony
and service I conduct. I am also proud to be a member of the
Sustainable Wedding Alliance.

and taking stepstowards measuring and reducing my carbon
